Introduction
My name is Sanni oluwasheyi, and I am the founder of Genesis Coders Hub. My journey into the world of technology and coding education is one built on faith, passion, curiosity, and a deep love for teaching. This is my story — the real, honest, unfiltered version.
My Educational Background
I graduated from Tai Solarin University of Education, where my foundation in education shaped the way I think about learning and teaching. Little did I know that this background would one day combine perfectly with my love for technology.
I Never Imagined Myself in Tech
Here is something that might surprise you — when I was younger, technology was the last thing on my mind.
I always imagined myself becoming a nurse. That was my dream. Healthcare felt like my calling, and I was determined to pursue it. I also loved science subjects — microbiology, biochemistry — and saw myself working in a hospital or laboratory.
In 2017, I took my first JAMB examination with nursing as my goal. But life had other plans. When nursing did not work out, I shifted my focus to Microbiology. But again, I was not offered admission, and I had to wait another year and sit for another JAMB examination.
That waiting period was not easy. It tested my patience and my faith. But looking back now, I understand why every door closed.
Eventually, I chose Computer Science — a field I had never imagined for myself as a young girl. No version of my younger self ever pictured me in tech. But God’s plan was bigger than my imagination.
How It All Started
My interest in coding grew during my time studying Computer Science. I attended a seminar about coding and technology and something clicked inside me. Then during my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) period, I took the bold step of enrolling at Powerwork in Ibadan. It was there that I truly picked up coding skills and developed a deep passion for technology. What started as curiosity quickly became a calling.
My Love for Teaching Kids
During my service year, I discovered something else about myself — I love teaching, especially teaching children. People who know me always say I have a calm and patient personality with kids, which makes me a natural educator. I developed a unique way of breaking down complex coding concepts into simple, easy-to-understand lessons that even the youngest learners could grasp. Watching a child understand and create something with code for the first time is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
Who I Am Outside of Work
Outside of coding and teaching, I am actually a very quiet and introverted person. I enjoy my own company — praying, staying alone, and watching movies. I find peace and clarity in those quiet moments, and honestly, some of my best ideas have come from simply being still.
The Struggles Nobody Talks About
I want to be honest with you, because I know someone reading this needs to hear it.
When I first started my journey in tech, I was very scared and confused. There were days I would cry myself to sleep, wondering what I was doing and whether I was good enough. There were moments I told myself ‘I am not doing well enough’ and wanted to give up completely.
There were times I had no one to open up to no one to tell about the challenges I was facing or the fears I was carrying. And I know many people, especially women in tech, feel exactly the same way.
But here is what I learned: having a mentor makes all the difference. Every time I found someone I could talk to, someone who guided me and believed in me, things became clearer. If you are on this journey, please find people who will support you, guide you, and push you forward. You do not have to do it alone.
A Message to Every Woman Wanting to Enter Tech
If you are a woman thinking about entering the tech space — just start.
I know the fear. I know the confusion. I know the nights of doubt. But I also know what is waiting for you on the other side of that fear. Do not let uncertainty stop you. Take the first step, find a mentor, surround yourself with the right people, and keep going.
This Was Not My Idea — It Was God’s
I want to be very clear about something: Genesis Coders Hub was not born from my own brilliance or planning. There were times I did not even know what direction to take. Sometimes I thought about switching to data analysis. Other times I considered going into baking — because yes, I have other passions too! I was all over the place. But God had a plan that was bigger than my confusion. Genesis Coders Hub exists because of divine direction, not human wisdom. And that is why I always say: pray, trust God, and keep moving forward.
Where I See Myself in Five Years
In the next five years, I see myself exactly where God wants me to be making a great impact through my business and in every area of my life. I do not have all the details figured out, and that is okay. I trust the process and I trust God.
